The Jackson Christian Eagles pulled an all out victory over the USJ Bruins football team last Friday night when the Eagles completed a crucial fourth down and drove the ball downfield to kick the game winning field goal in the closing seconds of the game.
“It’s always a big deal playing your cross town rival and this game meant so much to so many people,” Jackson Christian Head Football Coach Darby Palmer said.
The excitement was palpable as the Eagles and the Bruins went head to head. During the game quarterback Aaron Smith threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns, wide receiver Peyton Tinsley had seven catches for 111 yards and a touchdown, linebacker Tacker Nash led the defense with nine tackles and Alden Holland hit a 26 yard game winning field goal with seconds left on the clock.
“The score was back and forth all night,” Palmer said. “It was a battle between two great teams for significant region standings and bragging rights. It was a great collective team win.” Palmer said the team has its sights set on being undefeated this season. Jackson Christian Eagles will play its homecoming game against Fayette Academy this Friday (Sept. 25).
Here’s to another solid victory.
