RAZ-Kids will also be available for summer reading. Parents are encouraged to work with children on RAZ-Kids throughout the summer.
READING: Your child should read and take the quiz on at least 5 RAZ-Kids books from the from the Reading Room, Leveled Books section.
MATH: Your child should practice at least 5 IXL Kindergarten Math skills. (Ex. I.6, J.3, S.1, etc.).
LANGUAGE ARTS: There is a Language Arts section of IXL also. This is not required, but your child may practice the kindergarten IXL Language Arts skills.
READING: Your child should read and take the quiz for 10 books on RAZ Kids on his/her reading level. Please read the level that your child was on at the end of First Grade.
MATH: Please work on First Grade Math IXL Skills. Do at least one skill a week. Also, work on addition facts.
READING: Flat Stanley: His Original Adventure by Jeff Brown, ISBN# 978-0- 06-009791- 2 Read ten RAZ-Kids stories and take the quizzes.
IXL SKILLS PRACTICE: Come to 3rd Grade with a good understanding of the following skills: Addition and subtraction fluency: 0-20; Multiplication Facts 0’s, 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, & 10’s; Parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns); Punctuation skills, and Reading comprehension.
The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. This book will be used in the first reading unit in the fall.
